Book: Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli
This book was surprisingly funny, and Simon was hands down the best part of it. Which is probably not a great sign when he’s not even the main character in the book. I liked Leah, and I wanted to sympathize with her, but she made it so hard.
Good thoughts here and here.
Book: The Chase by Elle Kennedy
While I liked Summer for the most part, I didn’t at all understand the attraction to Fitz other than him being super hot. He had zero personality, and in the personality that we did see, he was a total asshole. I didn’t even remotely get it. I thought Hunter was a way better love interest since he seemed to actually like her! This also became a book heavy on issues, Summer would get all ranty over various social issues and I was not at all interested. Also, I’m pretty over the adjective heavy writing style of Elle Kennedy. But I’ll probably still give the next books in the series a try.
